Bukidnon Airport Development Project Update : A New Gateway to Northern Mindanao Taking Is Shape…
The Bukidnon Airport in Brgy. Maraymaray, Don Carlos, Bukidnon is steadily progressing and set to boost regional connectivity in Northern Mindanao. The ₱2.8-billion project spans 149 hectares and is about 7.3 km from the town center.
As of April 2024, the following updates have been made:
Runway Phase 1 (1.2 km × 30 m) is under construction.
The Passenger Terminal Building (PTB), measuring 3,600 sqm, is 26% complete, designed to serve 425 passengers at a time.
Phases 1 and 2 (runway and apron groundwork) are complete.
Phases 3 and 4 are ongoing, which include extending the runway and building the control tower and support facilities.
Targeted to start partial operations in 2025, the airport is expected to fully accommodate larger aircraft like the Airbus A320 by Q3 2026. Once operational, it will serve around 1.5 million people and significantly contribute to Bukidnon’s tourism and economic growth. (Philippine Information Agency, Philippine Information Agency)
By enhancing regional connectivity, the airport aims to boost local tourism, facilitate business operations, and contribute to the overall economic growth of Northern Mindanao .(Philippine Information Agency)
For us residents of Cagayan de Oro and the broader Northern Mindanao region, the completion of the Bukidnon Airport will provide a more accessible and efficient air travel option, complementing existing airports and supporting the region's growth trajectory.
