  • Laguindingan International Airport (LIA), operated by Aboitiz InfraCapital Laguindingan Airport Corporation since May 2025, is now handling over 300 domestic flights weekly, underscoring the airport’s tremendous potential as the “Golden Gateway to Mindanao” and beyond. Opol Boardwalk Set for Exciting Transformation

  • Big changes are coming to the Opol Boardwalk as plans for its major upgrade move one step closer to reality. The Economic Development Committee (EDC) of the Northern Mindanao Regional Development Council (RDC-X) has officially endorsed the project, signaling strong regional support for its revitalization.

  • Spearheaded by Opol Mayor Jay Bago, the proposed redevelopment aims to turn the boardwalk into a vibrant tourism hotspot and a catalyst for local economic growth. With its scenic coastal views and community appeal, the upgraded boardwalk is poised to become a landmark attraction not just for Opol, but for the entire province.

  • The proposal is now being evaluated for potential funding by the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA). If approved, the project is expected to draw more tourists, create local jobs, and solidify Misamis Oriental’s reputation as one of Mindanao’s top tourism destinations.

Paulino Aboitiz born on June 22, 1851 in the seaside town of Lequeitio, Spain, arrived in the Philippines in the 1870’s with little more than ambition and grit.
