    In a bold international move, Filipino billionaire Andrew Tan, the visionary behind Megaworld and Alliance Global Group, Inc. (AGI), has officially taken full control of Madrid’s iconic Caleido Complex —one of Spain’s most prestigious mixed-use developments.

    Dr. Andrew L. Tan, said in a statement Saturday that it has acquired 100 percent ownership of Caliedo via Emperador Properties, the private real estate investment company of Filipino tycoon.

    This landmark acquisition marks a significant milestone not just for Tan, but for Philippine real estate’s growing global footprint. The Caleido Complex, located in the heart of Madrid’s financial district, houses luxury residences, retail spaces, and educational institutions.

    What makes this special? It’s the first time a Filipino tycoon has wholly acquired a high-profile European urban asset—a testament to the increasing confidence and global ambition of Filipino developers. This acquisition is a recent addition to Emperador Properties’ real estate assets in Spain — the 57-story Torre Emperador Castellana which is also in Madrid, and the 23-story Torre Diagonal One in Barcelona.

    With total assets currently valued at more than €1 billion, Emperador Properties in 2022 achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first and only Filipino company listed in the Spanish Stock Exchange. As real estate in the Philippines continues to evolve, it’s exciting to see Filipino players making waves on the world stage.
